ECS Summer School 2025 Budapest
This year‘s ECS (Electronic Components and Systems) Summer School was held between August 25 and 29, 2025. Forty exceptional students from across Europe were selected for the program. The event was organized by AENEAS, ECSA (European Chips Skills Academy), EPoSS, and INSIDE Industry Association. The event was hosted by BME VIK ETT, TMIT, and EET.

Our goal is to promote learning about electronics, microelectronics and semiconductors, to motivate students to learn this topic at universities as a specialization. This knowledge is essential for the digital transition within the EU. From secondary school to university education, it is important to reinforce these skills with industry expectations and with the active involvement of companies. Summer university students acquired essential skills that will strengthen the competitiveness of the future European chip industry.
The week was opened by Sándor Imre, the Dean of the Faculty (BME VIK) who welcomed the participants. Participants learned a lot of interesting information from leading international and domestic university and industry experts, took part in laboratory and manufacturing visits and community programs, and were able to establish direct contacts with the speakers and, of course, with each other. The interdisciplinary nature of the subject area was also emphasized: participants were introduced to the interrelated fields of semiconductors, chips, design, embedded systems, IoT, AI and quantum computing.
Participants learned a lot of interesting information from leading international and hungarian academic and industry experts, took part in lab and factory visits and social programmes, and could build relationships with the speakers and, of course with each other.

Results and feedback
A résztvevők különösen értékelték a gyakorlati megközelítést, a nemzetközi csapatmunkát és a budapesti helyszín inspiráló légkörét. A Summer School megerősítette: a semiconductors – chips – design – systems – IoT – AI – quantum computing területei szorosan összekapcsolódnak, és a most megszerzett tudás közvetlenül hozzájárul a hallgatók szakmai fejlődéséhez és az európai ökoszisztéma utánpótlásához.
Participants particularly appreciated the practical approach, international teamwork, and the inspiring atmosphere of the Budapest venue. The Summer School confirmed that semiconductors, chips, design, systems, IoT, AI, and quantum computing are close fileds, and that the knowledge gained here will directly contribute to the professional development of students and the replenishment of the European ecosystem.
